Suspect Remains At Large In Rocky Mount Store Shooting

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police in Rocky Mount are investigating a deadly shooting at a convenience store early Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, a man walked into Ammar's Food Mart on South Church Street at 12:12 a.m. and shot three people.

Police said the shooter first fired at customer Tyronne Lancaster, who was sitting just inside the front door. The shooter then reportedly turned and fired at Alah-was Hager and 19-year-old Mallory Greenwalt.

Police said Hager, 40, who was known in the neighborhood as David, died at the scene. Hager's girlfriend is pregnant with his child.

Lancaster died at an area hospital. Greenwalt was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Her condition is not known.

Police say the shooter is described as a black male who had a mask on his face. They also say the suspect did not take anything from the store.

Police are looking at surveillance video in hopes of finding clues that will lead to the capture of the suspect.
