WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — WakeMed
is responding to a growing need for emergency care.
It is planning a 24-hour full-service emergency room for its northern Wake County outpatient facility.
When completed, the new emergency room is expected to handle about 15,000 visits a year.
It is expected to ease patient loads at WakeMed's New Bern Avenue hospital and other medical centers.
