VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — One person is dead and six others were injured in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 85 near Henderson Monday.
Police said Quillie Smith III, 19, of Charlotte, fell asleep at the wheel of the van he was driving.
Smith's cousin, Carrie Corry, 41,of Charlotte died. Smith and five other passengers were treated for minor injuries.
He is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and reckless driving.
