Alleged Person County Dogfighter Released From Jail

Posted Updated

PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — The man who may have played a role in the pit bull ambush of an animal control officer is out of jail.

Michael Dowdell was released from the Person County jail after posting bond on dogfighting charges.

Investigators say Dowdell is a "person of interest" in the ambush of Officer Patsy Ann Bryant, who was attacked while responding to a false call.

Officers say Bryant was lured to a country road with a false call about an injured dog, when she was attacked.
