Triangle Down To No. 26 In Ranking Of Top Sports Areas

RALEIGH, N.C. — From college basketball to the Durham Bulls to Carolina Hurricanes hockey, the Triangle loves its sports.
The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area ranks No. 26 in
The Sporting News'
annual listing of best sports cities
, which is released in this week's issue.
The Triangle's ranking is down from No. 18 a year ago, but still rates ahead of Cleveland, San Diego, Toronto, Cincinnati and Orlando.
Other cities of note among the 364 mentioned include No. 36 Charlotte, No. 68 Winston-Salem, No. 114 Greenville, No. 119 Richmond, No. 135 Wilmington, No. 188 Asheville, No. 218 Greensboro, No. 307 Zebulon and No. 353 Fayetteville.
