Dump Truck Crashes Through Guardrail On I-40

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Traffic is flowing again on Interstate 40 after a close call late Thursday morning.

A dump truck was heading eastbound on I-40 when it crashed through the guardrail and ended up crossing the westbound lanes.

The accident occurred shortly before noon near Airport Boulevard.Luckily, the driver did not hit any other cars. The truck crashed on the side of the highway.

There is no word yet what caused the accident or if the driver faces charges.

Officials said a dump truck hit and took out some of the guardrail along the stretch of road.

Crews had closed traffic to two lanes, but all lanes have since reopened and traffic is flowing again.
