FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Charges were pending late Monday night against a person who led police on a high-speed chase through Fuquay-Varina and was apprehended with help from an alert homeowner.

Around 11:30 p.m., officers noticed a car speeding along Highway 42. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over. The chase began, lasting three to five minutes at speeds in excess of 90 mph.

Officers said they suspended pursuit after realizing they couldn't catch the suspect, who later pulled into a resident's yard. The homeowner called police, complaining of a strange car and people running through the yard.

Officers caught the suspect near Quail Grove Street and Kinnebeck Road.
