HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — There was no luck for a dive team that spent hours searching for a murder weapon.
Authorities scoured a stretch of the South River near the Sampson-Cumberland County line over the weekend, looking for the gun used to kill Renee Lancaster.
Investigators found the mother of two in a ditch last year. An autopsy showed Lancaster was shot eight times.
Lancaster's former boyfriend and his girlfriend are charged in the murder.
