SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Police in Smithfield said a case of mistaken identity led to a drive-by shooting outside a Wal-Mart early Monday morning.
Officers said a man was shot in the arm in the store parking lot overnight. He was treated at a hospital and released.
Police said the victim was mistaken for the owner of the car he was driving. The suspect, who remains on the loose, was a passenger in a blue S-10 pickup truck.
