RAEFORD, N.C. — Power has been restored for the nearly 4,000 Hoke County residents who lost it Tuesday afternoon after a fire at a Progress Energy substation.
According to reports, a mowing crew outside a substation in Raeford clipped a guide wire, which caused a pole to fall across a wire and start a fire.
The incident left 3,800 customers -- including the town of Raeford -- without power for almost three hours.
