Gas Leak Forces Bank Evacuation Near Crabtree Valley Mall

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A bank outside of Crabtree Valley Mall was evacuated Monday.

Customers and staff were forced out of the Wachovia building after work crews cut a gas line. The bank shut down for the day.

The construction work is part of the mall's new parking deck.

The entire mall was not evacuated because the wind was blowing the gas in the opposite direction. However, officials say the line feeds all the restaurants in the mall, so they had to adjust their menus.
