RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh's Outer Loop soon will get a little longer.
State highway engineers say they're working on a contract to extend Interstate 540 from Capital Boulevard to Highway 64 in Knightdale. They plan to have it done by Spring of 2006.
Heading in the other direction, the state also is about to hire a contractor to connect I-40 to Highway 55.
