RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Despite rumors to the contrary, Nortel is not interested in making any acquisitions at this time, Chief Executive Officer Mike Zafirovski told
The Toronto Globe & Mail
newspaper in an interview on Friday.
"We have more important things to do in 2006," Zafirovski said. The company will "focus on what we can do internally - strategically and operationally - and really to push out external activities to some time in 2007."
Nortel, which has a major facility in RTP, recently had been rumoured to purchase Force10 Networks.
