WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Wake County students may spend less time on the water during school field trips.
The school board voted Monday to put new restrictions on water-related field trips. Area superintendents will have to approve trips that involve swimming, boating and other water activities.
Superintendents will also be required to create a safety plan for each outing. Many Wake County schools take students to the Neuse River or the coast as part of their studies.
