Woman Struck By Raleigh Police Cruiser

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman was taken to the hospital with a broken ankle after she was struck by a Raleigh police cruiser.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Monday near the Black Tie Club on Milburnie Road.

Authorities said 25-year-old Bisrat Tesfagiorgis was crossing the road when she walked into the vehicle. Authorities said she was not walking in the crosswalk.

According to police, Officer Matthew McKee was not responding to an incident and did not have the cruiser's siren or lights on.

Witnesses said the cruiser was not speeding at the time of the accident.
