DURHAM, N.C. — A 12-year-old Durham boy died Friday afternoon from injuries suffered when a car hit him last weekend.
Family members said Brandon Jacob Lewis, of Carolwood Lane, was removed from life support and died about 1:30 p.m. at Duke University Hospital.
He had experienced complications related to severe brain injuries suffered when he was knocked into the windshield of a 1991 Chevrolet Corsica on the 700 block of Cook Road early Saturday morning.
"Brandon is a great kid," said his family in a statement released on their Web site late Friday afternoon. "He has brought joy and happiness to almost all that have come to know him, only if even a little."
There is no word yet on possible charges in the case.
