Affinergy Lands Product, Licensing Deal With International Medical Device Firm

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Affinergy

, a developer of coating technology for medical devices, has signed a multi-year product development and licensing agreement with Synthes, an international medical device firm.

Affinergy, which utilizes technology developed at Duke University, will work with Synthes on projects related to spine, trauma and other markets.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"Synthes built its leadership position in the orthopedics market by continually providing innovative products," said Peyton Anderson, chief executive officer of Affinergy. "Affinergy is very excited by the potential of these development programs to improve patient outcomes while better serving the surgeons' clinical practices.
