I-40 Lane Closures Planned For Saturday Evening

Posted Updated

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Motorists on Interstate 40 may experience some delays Saturday evening, as lanes are shifted for overnight construction.

Crews closed one lane of westbound I-40 between mile-markers 312 and 306 near Clayton around 5 p.m., and plan to close one eastbound lane in the same area later in the evening. Once the lane closures are in place, crews will temporarily shift eastbound traffic across the median into a two-way, two-lane traffic pattern in the westbound lanes of I-40.

All the lanes are scheduled to reopen at midnight. The lane closures are part of the ongoing construction of a bridge for the Clayton Bypass, which is due to open in 2007.
