GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a drive-by shooting Monday night that killed two men and wounded a third, police said.

Roderick Miles Davis Jr., 23, of 621 Slaughter St., was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder and is being held without bond at the Wayne County Detention Center, police said.

James Lee Croom, 24, was driving a 2006 Dodge Stratus east on Olivia Drive near the intersection of Crawford Street when a man opened fire on the vehicle with an assault rifle, police said.

Croom and passenger Tresond Javoy Gerald, 20, were killed in the hail of bullets, which also sprayed a nearby apartment complex. Otavis Gerquel McKinnon, 18, another passenger in Croom's vehicle, was wounded and was treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital and released.

Police didn't release information about a possible motive for the shooting, which remains under investigation.
