GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Thousands of marijuana plants worth more than $15 million were discovered Friday in rural Wayne County, authorities said.
About 7,000 plants ranging in size from 10 inches to 7 feet tall were found in a wooded area about four miles north of the Goldsboro Airport, authorities said.
The plants were found as Wayne County deputies conducted a routine aerial inspection, authorities said. So far this year, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office has confiscated more than $100 million in marijuana.
No one has been charged yet in the latest discovery.
