Jesica Santillan

In April, Magdalena Santillan asked police to arrest her husband, Melecio Marentes, after an argument.
Santillan claimed a Spanish interpreter with the Franklin County courts misinterpreted her words, making it sound as if her husband was drunk and hit her. However, Santillan said later that her husband never hit her.
Jesica Santillan died at Duke Hospital in February after surgeons transplanted a heart and lungs of the wrong blood type.
