Farmworker Dies After Being Pulled Into Harvester

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A farmworker was killed Tuesday morning when he fell into a harvesting machine, authorities said.

Mario Morales, 35, of Middlesex, was trying to clear debris at a farm on Woodard's Dairy Road near the Johnston-Nash county line at about 9:30 a.m. when he got entangled in a tobacco harvester and was pulled in, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation.
