Highway 701 Reopens To Traffic After Truck Accident

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — All lanes of U.S. Highway 701 near Four Oaks are open to traffic again after they were shut down following a truck accident.
Officials said a box truck carrying groceries was hanging off the side of a bridge on
Oak Forest Road
.
Rescuers hoisted a ladder up to the truck and the driver was able to climb down himself.
The truck driver was flown by medical helicopter to UNC Hospitals. There is no word on his condition.
A wrecker was able to remove the truck from the side of the bridge. DOT crews put up a temporary bridge railing to replace the section damaged in the accident.
