Moore County, Fayetteville Authorities Search For Missing Men

ABERDEEN, N.C. — Investigators in Moore County and Fayetteville were searching Monday for two missing men.

LeGrand Steel, 89, wandered away from his home on Pecan Grove Street in Aberdeen, authorities said. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 133 pounds.

Steel was last seen wearing beige shorts, a blue golf shirt, and white velcro sneakers. He suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and a heart condition.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville police are searching for John Vereen, 48, who was last seen at 4 a.m. Aug. 1 as he left his home at 1607 Hennessy Place.

Vereen is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 260 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair, is clean-shaven and has a light complexion. It is unknown what clothing he was wearing when he left.

Vereen requires medication, and family members don't believe he has it with him, police said.
