Good Samaritans Get Caught Up In I-40 Accident

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Investigators say a suspected drunken driver caused an overnight accident that closed part of Interstate 40.

According to state troopers, a man was driving erratically and speeding on eastbound I-40 between Aviation Parkway and Harrison Avenue when he swerved and hit a guardrail.

Authorities said two cars stopped to help the driver when another car hit the other vehicles.

Troopers said no one was seriously injured. Investigators arrested the man and charged him with DWI.

Crews have since reopened I-40 and traffic is flowing again.
