Chapel Hill Woman Charged With Sex Crime Against 2-Year-Old

PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County authorities have arrested a Chapel Hill woman in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a 2½-year-old child.

Rebecca Stutts, 31, of Mann's Chapel Road, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the alleged offense that authorities believe occurred last week. She was charged with felonious second-degree sex offense and misdemeanor child abuse.

Stutts was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving while license revoked in an unrelated case.

She was in jail Thursday under a $50,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 2.
