— A landmark in Chapel Hill is taking away the ashtrays.

The Carolina Inn is going 100 percent smoke-free.

Smoking is no longer allowed in any of the inn's 184 guest rooms and suites or in meeting rooms, bathrooms, the lobby or the Carolina Crossroads Restaurant and Bar.

The Carolina Inn is among the first major hotels in the Triangle area to go 100 percent smoke-free.
