WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — The
Wake County School Board
looked at a variety of topics Tuesday regarding the safety of students.
After a WRAL
report
about teens and their driving habits, some people were concerned about students' safety and whether they should still have the right to leave for campus. However, the school board voted to continue to allow high school junior and seniors to leave campus during lunch periods.
The board also postponed a decision on high school field trips, specifically those at water areas. The issue is whether those field trips are safe for students. Critics suggest that type of trip could lead to lawsuits.
Officials are looking at retooling the approval process for the trips.
