BioMachines Launches Division For Proteomic Services

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — BioMachines

, which builds automation tools for use in drug discovery and development, is launching a new division focused on proteomics.

Proteomics processes enable the separation of complex mixtures into separate proteins.

BioMachines' new group will work with the Proteomic Fractionation Group at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

The Applied Proteomics Services division will provide sample preparation, fractionation and mass spectrometry services. "This new relationship combines the deep knowledge and expertise of the PFG team with proven sample preparation automation equipment, to offer our customers the best combined set of resources on the market," said Tom Larrichio, BioMachines' chief executive officer. "Protein-based biopharmaceuticals are enjoying great commercial success."
