Sinkhole Repairs Completed On Cary Road

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — It took a month, but a Cary sinkhole is finally history and a major thoroughfare has reopened.

Seabrook Avenue reopened late Friday afternoon. The roadway had collapsed under the pressure of heavy rain from tropical storm Alberto.

Officials had estimated that the roadway would be repaired and reopened within five days. However, bad weather delayed work on the road.

Crews put in new drainage pipes and filled the hole that blew out. As soon as that was completed, the town crews came in and put the street base down, with new gutters and sidewalks, and put a new layer of asphalt down on top of that.
