Teen Released From Wilson Jail Runs Away From Social Services

Posted Updated

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. — A 16-year-old girl released from the Wilson County Jail has escaped from the custody of social services officials.

Haley Williams spent two weeks in jail on charges of stealing a cell phone from her foster mother. A magistrate required that Williams be released into the custody of Craven County Social Services.

Officials picked her up Wednesday and took her to a children's home in Kinston, where she ran away from.

Williams' biological mother said she is upset about how her daughter's case has been handled.
