KINSTON, N.C. — Seven people were shot -- two fatally -- in related incidents in Kinston early Friday morning.
Police said that they responded to a call about gunshots at 4 a.m. Friday at the intersection of
Macon and Orion streets
They found five people shot, one of them dead. One woman, who did not want to be identified, said she was shot twice in the leg. She said she heard an argument and people yelling "get down."
Moments later, police tried to stop a black Nissan Altima on East Washington Street. The car drove off, but not before dumping the body of another shooting victim in the road.
Of the five people who survived the shooting, one is in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Three victims are in serious condition. Another victim walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound later Friday morning.
The Altima, which had been abandoned, was found by police late Friday morning.
The names of the victims are not being released at this time, pending further investigation and notification of victims' families.
