RALEIGH, N.C. — A man wanted in connection with the shooting of a Rocky Mount police officer was arrested in Mexico, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Monday.

Agents arrested Flavio Alarcon-Cerecedo on Saturday in the Mexican city of Hidalgo, according to an FBI news release issued Monday. The arrest was the result of an intensive manhunt, the news release said.

Cerecedo was wanted in connection with the Sept. 9, 2005, shooting of Officer B.G. Brown near the Cross Creek Mobile Home Park in Rocky Mount, where Brown was responding to a call.

Cerecedo, who is charged with attempted murder, is currently being held in Mexico City pending extradition to the United States.
