2 Wrecks Leave 1 Dead, 2 Critically Injured

RALEIGH, N.C. — One man has been charged and charges are pending against a second man in connection with two accidents that killed one woman and critically injured two men, authorities said Thursday.

Christine Faulkner was killed in an accident on Lake Upchurch Road in Cumberland County on Wednesday night. Another vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with the pickup in which Faulkner was riding, authorities said.

Lawrence Swain, the driver of the pickup, is in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Hector Fernandez Montero, 38, of 709 Wexford Drive, Apt. H, in Raleigh, was charged with felony hit-and-run after in connection with an accident Wednesday night on Raleigh Boulevard in Raleigh.

A car hit a pedestrian and drove off, authorities said. The driver returned a short time later, authorities said.

The pedestrian, 51-year-old Dennis Anderson of Zebulon, is listed in critical condition at WakeMed.
