Fayetteville Outer Loop Slowly Takes Shape

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville's Outer Loop is finally a reality.

The state Department of Transportation expects to open the first section June 16. The project has been talked about for more than 50 years.

The three-mile stretch connects Ramsey Street with River Road and makes it easier to get to Interstate 95 from north Fayetteville.

The first phase cost more than $34 million and will include a four-lane bridge over the Cape Fear River.
