Durham Man Accused Of Robbing 2 Banks

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man has been arrested and charged with robbing two Durham banks last week.

Michael Shane Satterfield, 34, of Old N.C. 10, is charged with robbing Bank of America at 3807 N. Duke St. May 20 and RBC Centura Bank at 2101 Guess Road the next day.

Satterfield also was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle - a Mazda reported stolen in Durham May 21.

Satterfield is in jail in Wilmington, N.C., where he was arrested last weekend.

In the Bank of America robbery, a man entered the bank shortly after 9 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money. The note said the suspect had a gun, but no weapon was seen.

The man fled in a gray car that had been parked in an apartment complex lot behind the bank.

In the second robbery, a man entered the bank around 1:45 p.m., handed a teller a note and demanded money. The man fled in a white car with an undisclosed amount of money.

No weapon was displayed in either robbery.
