FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A preliminary autopsy report shows a Cumberland County woman found dead inside a mobile home Sunday died of smoke inhalation.
About 5 a.m. Sunday, firefighters found the mobile home on Crystal Springs Drive engulfed in flames. After putting out the fire, they found a woman's body inside.
Detectives identified the body as Veronica Baldwin Ward, 39, of 3105 Lady Cheryl Dr. A final autopsy report is expected from Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill.
Deputies questioned a man seen leaving the area after the fire started. They also want to question the homeowner, 64-year-old
