PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — It appears speed played a part in a deadly wreck involving a special education school bus in Person County Thursday afternoon.
The wreck happened along Peed Road in the Rougemont community.The Highway Patrol said the driver of the car crossed the center line and slammed into the school bus.
Jarrod Lane Roberts, 24, and passenger, Michael Douglas Whitman, 28, both of Rougemont, died instantly.
The bus driver, an assistant and two students from Earl Bradsher School suffered minor injuries.
