Former Durham School Aide Answers To Child Pornography Charges

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man who managed the before- and after-school program at Hope Valley Elementary School made his first court appearance Friday on child pornography charges.

Authorities arrested 30-year-old Chris Burleson Thursday and charged him with disseminating pornography to a minor under the age of 13. Police say Christopher Burleson showed pornographic videos to an 11-year-old at the school.

The school representative said Burleson had been with Durham Public Schools for 10 years. The school representative does not know how long he has been working at Hope Valley Elementary School.

Authorities say the incident was reported on April 12. Burleson's last day at the school was April 22. The school representative say that the school does perform background checks on its personnel and Burleson does not have a prior criminal record.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to see if other students were involved.
