JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A new budget for the Johnston County school district is headed to county commissioners.
The school board approved a plan with $35 million more than last year's request to the county, which is nearly a 17 percent increase.
The new budget does not include a new building or maintenance for old ones.
Last year's budget fight in Johnston County almost landed commissioners and the school system in mediation.
