FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County detectives arrested 49-year-old Wilber Earl Parker on Friday, charging him with 33 counts of sexual offenses, indecent liberties and kidnapping.

Parker was charged with one count of first-degree kidnapping, 16 counts of indecent liberties and 16 counts of statutory sex offense.

The charges stem from an investigation that began Thursday, when the victim's parents reported the suspect to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the victim, a 14-year-old male, told his parents he had been sexually assaulted by Parker.

The incidents allegedly occurred between June 2002 and December 2002, when Parker was a friend of the victim's family.

Bond information was not available Friday.

Parker will have a first appearance in District Court at 9 a.m. Monday.
