Wilson Police Investigate 2 Shootings, 1 Fatal

WILSON, N.C. — Wilson police are investigating two shootings that occurred Friday after finding the victims in separate locations less than an hour apart.
One of the victims died after being transported to a hospital.
According to police, Marcus Jarelle Johnson of Wilson was found at 900 Aycock St. at 1:55 a.m. Friday suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh. Johnson was taken to Pitt Memorial for treatment.
Police said the suspect fled in an unknown vehicle occupied by several people.
Less than an hour later, at 2:30 a.m. Friday, officers were flagged down in the 600 block of South Goldsboro Street about another shooting. Wilson police found Craig Demetrius Kirby Jr., of Hampton, Va., suffering from a gunshot wound to his right hip.
Kirby was transported to Wilson Medical Center, where he later died.
Police said an unknown vehicle occupied by several people was seen leaving the scene.
