Off-Duty Police Officer Helps In Arrest Of Raleigh Bank Robbery Suspect

RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities said the work of an off-duty police officer led to the arrest of a suspected serial bank robber.

Jeffrey Gerganus is charged with three counts of robbery with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said the off-duty officer was driving around the neighborhood Tuesday when Gerganus was alleedegly robbing a Bank of America on Falls of Neuse Road.

Authorities said the officer spotted the vehicle that Gerganus was driving and followed it until the other officers were able to arrive on the scene.

Authorities suspect Gerganus robbed three banks in the span of 10 days.

He is being held in the Wake County Jail on $150,000 bond.
