WARREN COUNTY, N.C. — A baby in Warren County has been diagnosed with
whooping cough
or pertussis.
Health officials say whooping cough is highly contagious and, if left untreated, can dangerously restrict a child's breathing. There is no word on the infant's condition.
Warren County health officials are now monitoring the family and all those who may have come in contact with the baby in day care.
Health officials say young children who have not been vaccinated are most at risk of getting whooping cough.
