DURHAM, N.C. — Two former Durham principals, who have been getting paid for months, are finally leaving the payroll.
Richard Hicks is retiring at the end of the month. Henry Pankey will be on loan to the state Department of Public Instruction. Both were principals at Hillside High School. They were removed in consecutive years amid community furor.
In another Hillside money matter, two parent organizations finally gave financial paperwork to administrators.
The school's band parents group and the dance booster club turned over documents to account for their funds. Two other groups have not done the same.
Hillside is trying to track down thousands of dollars missing from the organizations.
