CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — University of North Carolina police said Robert Harris, 22, faces charges in the attempted rape of a female student inside her residence hall early Friday.
Investigators said the victim had visible bruises and scratches. She was treated at UNC Hospitals.
A warrant was issued against Harris and he was arrested and held in the Orange County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
Bond was reduced and Harris was released after a pretrial conference with his parents.
Harris, a senior, was a linebacker for the football team until a knee injury put him on the bench last year.
