RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh cab driver is in jail after she allegedly tried to drive away from a police officer with the officer hanging from her taxi.

Cynthia Lucas appeared before a Wake County judge Monday. She reportedly closed her taxi door on officer M.J. Keon's arm during a traffic stop, then dragged Leon nearly 50 feet along Southeast Street in Raleigh.

Lucas crashed her car into a utility pole on Martin Luther King Boulevard and tried to flee on foot before being caught.

Keon, who had pulled Lucas over for a registration violation, was not seriously injured. He was taken to Wake Medical Center for treatment and released.

Lucas was charged with hit and run, intent to kill an officer, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed on $260,000 bond.
