Lee County Set To Build New Animal Shelter

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Lee County is one step closer to getting a new animal shelter.

The purchase of land on U.S. Highway 421 in Sanford is now complete. Construction bids will go out this month.

Groundbreaking for the new building should happen in April with the new shelter opening in August.

Lee County's strays have been going to Chatham County since the Humane Society closed last summer.
