Cary Considers Layoffs

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — For the first time since 1988, the

town of Cary

may lay off workers.

Cary's town manager said if council members agree, pink slips would go out in the next 30 to 45 days.

Cary has more than 1,000 employees, but there is no word on how many people would be laid off or which departments they would come from.

The rough economy is just one of the reasons the town manager said a reduction in staff is being considered.
