Durham Police Release Composite Of Suspect In Assault, Attempted Robbery

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police investigators have released a composite drawing of a suspectin a January 25 assault and attempted robbery at Wellington Place Apartments on Garrett Road.

According to police, the victim was using a telephone in the parking lot when a man approached him around 7:30 p.m., showed a handgun and demanded the victim's wallet.

As the victim reached for his wallet, police said, the suspect hit him under his right eyeand on the side of his head with a handgun. The suspect then ran from the area.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, 28 to 33 years old, standing 5-11to 6-feet tall, weighing 215 to 220 pounds. He has short hair.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt and blue jeans.
